Our services
The Window Wood Surgeon offers many great services to homeowners and realtors. We hand-craft custom wood windows, many times replicating the design of an existing window. We also complete projects for uniquely shaped windows. Even if a window is beyond repair, we can build a historically accurate replica.

Refurbishment
Our restoration process often begins with carefully removing the sash, stripping the paint, and sanding the frame down to bare wood. This meticulous preparation enables us to safely remove old glazing panels, replace broken or cracked glass, and repair any rot. To complete the preservation, we replicate and replace rails, stiles, and muntins; re-paint or stain the wood; replace the sash cord; restring the weight and pulley counterbalance system; and finally re-install the sash to ensure full functionality.
Re-Roping Pulleys & Weights
While re-reroping is standard in full refurbishments, it's also an option when the window's function is your highest priority.
Sill Replacement
A rotted sill can cause water damage in the wall around the window, so sill replacement is another big part of what we do. We replace nose sills and sub sills. We offer both rot-resistant PVC and hardwood sills.
Rot Repair
The Wood Window Surgeon can repair all types of rot. We can fix your rotten sills, sash parts, fascia boards, subsills, and more.
Custom Windows
The Wood Window Surgeon can make custom window sashes, frames and sills for any wood application. We do 1/2 circles, trapezoids, clairistory and more. If you can draw it, we can make it.
Storm Panels
We can craft custom made permanent or removable storm panels to cover your existing windows for increased energy savings and reduced drafts. Our storm panels can protect any type of window, including wood, vinyl, and aluminum. We can fit your window, no matter the shape.
Rail Replacement and Repair
Rail replacement includes removing the rotten bottom rail, replicating it with the new profile, and matching it to the size of the previous window to create a snug fit. We use mortis and tenon joinery for a strong and stable connection.
Framing
In our shop, we have the capacity to both refurbish existing frames and build new frames from scratch. We can use redeemable wood from your home or start new when necessary.
